The aircraft departed from Geiteryggen Airport in Skien, Norway, on the morning of August 17 and arrived in Spa, Belgium, later that day. They are currently on standby to support firefighting operations as needed.
The helicopters are Airbus H125/AS350 aircraft equipped with firefighting buckets capable of carrying up to 1,200 litres of water.
Arctic Aviation holds a contract with the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) to provide wildfire-helicopter preparedness and response services in Norway. The two helicopters deployed to Belgium are part of this national emergency preparedness fleet.
